LONDON: Minutes after bidding farewell to his mother, London police have arrested Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar for violently attacking a protester outside the Sharif family’s London residence, ARY News reported.

According to ARY News correspondent, Junaid Safdar and his cousin, Hussain Nawaz’s son Zakaria Hussain, have been arrested following a clash with protesters outside Avenfiled apartments.

Junaid Safdar reportedly punched and knocked a protester on ground. He and Zakaria have been moved to the city’s Charing Cross police station.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, on the other hand, tweeted that some protesters verbally abused Junaid “every time” they saw him, so his reaction was normal.

Minutes ago, Junaid had bidden farewell to his grandfather, PML-N supreme leader Mian Nawaz Sharif and his mother Maryam Nawaz Sharif who left London to fly for Lahore where they would be arrested in compliance with a July 6 court order in the Avenfield case.

His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years for abetment, and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar was given 1 year for non-cooperation with the anti-graft authority.
