MASTUNG: Six policemen were killed in a gun battle during a bank robbery in Mastung area of Balochistan, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
The shootout between the police and robbers began after police was informed about a bid by eight dacoits to rob a bank in Mastung Bazaar. The robbers opened fire after police cordoned off the bank killing a police official on the spot.
The robbers left the bank and took refuge at a nearby house. The police and other security agencies surrounded the house resulting in a gun battle in which five more policemen were killed.
Two robbers were also killed in the shootout, while one was arrested in injured condition.
According to reports six officials including Assistant Commissioner Mastung and a deputy superintendent of police were injured in the encounter.
