ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the media trial of ISI and the military is intolerable, ARY News reported on Friday.

In a statement, the Interior Minister said that the government stands with the defence institutions.

He said the Geo and Jang, in pretext of the attack on Hamid Mir, playing the roles of the complainant, police, prosecutor and judge themselves.

Nisar said protecting the honour and dignity of the military and intelligence agencies is the responsibility of the government. He said it is the constitutional duty of the government to ensure protection of the dignity of the armed forces.

Indian and the western media maligned Pakistan after the coverage of Geo, he said. Nisar said that the attack on Hamid Mir will be investigated into and be taken to its logical end.

He said the government of Sindh trying hard to investigate the case but instead of providing evidence to the inquiry commission the media trial of institutions has been continued.

He said Hamid Mir should have given his statement to the investigation agencies instead of Aamir Mir.

He has blamed Islamabad Police for not inquiring into the matter but he didn't provide any phone number or information to the police, the interior minister added.
