‘Iqbal wrote National Anthem’, Meera comes with another disclosure

LAHORE: Pakistani Actress Meera has shocked listeners by declaring that National Anthem of Pakistan was written by the late philosopher and poet Allama Iqbal, ARY News reported.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Thursday, while disclosing a plan about charity hospital, Meera surprised with her strange general knowledge by saying “ Allama Iqbal was a great poet who use his knowledge and skills greatly and his most prominent contribution for the country was writing ‘National Anthem’.” The national anthem of Pakistan was however composed by Ahmad G Chagla in 1949, preceding the lyrics, which were written by Hafeez Jullundhri in 1952.

Speaking about her vision for Darul Shafqat, the charity hospital, she said that US has raised $52,000 for the cause and has been promised Rs.2 million from overseas Pakistanis for the construction of her hospital.
