Mehmood demands LB polls not to be delayed for census
LAHORE: Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed has said that the Local Body (LB) elections shall not be allowed to be delayed in the name of population census – ARY News reports.
Talking to media prior to Punjab Assembly session on Thursday, Mehmood ur Rasheed said that all the state institutions are bound of cooperating with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He criticized the Law Minister Punjab, Rana Sanaullah and demanded him not spread negative perceptions by crying over human resources.
The Opposition Leader said that the Government of Punjab is afraid of the results of LB polls after witnessing the outcome of by-elections in Jhang and Khushab.
He told that a letter has already been written to the Chief Minister Punjab, about the corruption that took place during Punjab Youth Festival, whilst the media will be issued these details tomorrow.
Commenting on provincial Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Mehmood said that the committee is not authorized to take notice of any issue itself, whereas he expressed his determination to table a resolution in the House regarding the self-authorization of all the committees of Punjab Assembly.
Moreover, he said that if political appointments were not made at police stations, then the law and order situation of the province would not have deteriorated to this extent.
