Men’s Field Hockey World Cup: Netherlands win, Argentina upsets Germany

THE HAGUE: Hosts Netherlands defeated South Korea whereas Germany was defeated by Argentina in the Field Hockey World Cup at The Hague on Tuesday, ARY News reports.

Netherlands beat South Korea 2-1 in their match yesterday. South Korea’s Hyunwoo Nam put his side in the lead in the 5th minute but two goals from Jeroen Hertzberger and Robbert Kemperman helped the hosts record the win.

Germany suffered a shock defeat from the hands of Argentina. Manuel Brunet scored the first and only goal in the 31st minute. The South American side did some brilliant defending and held on to their lead.

Meanwhile, New Zealand thrashed South Africa 5-0 in their match.

Simon Child scored the first goal for the Kiwis in the fourth minute and Andy Howard scored two goals in the 15th and 17th minute. Shea Mcaleese netted the fourth goal for the New Zealand side in 52nd minute whereas Howard completed his hat trick in the 54th minute.
