SIALKOT: A Pakistani mentally challenged man, who was missing for four years, has been found in the custody of the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF).
This is not the first case of Indian forces capturing a mentally-ill Pakistani citizen for illegally crossing into their territory.
According to Indian media reports, the BSF arrested Muhammad Iqbal (46) for crossing Indian border near Rahim Yar Khan and seized his identity card and some bills from him.
As per the seized documents, Iqbal belongs to village Koreyki, Daska tehsil in Sialkot.
Iqbal’s father Muhammad Nawaz, a labour, told reporters that his son was mentally challenged and had been missing for four years.
“Earlier, we were dealing with the pain patiently of prolonged absence of our son, but after knowing that he is in BSF custody, we’re in constant pain and cannot wait to see him. We saw and recognised him on Indian and Pakistani TV news channels. We are praying for his safety,” said Nawaz.
The family said they are unaware about how Iqbal crossed the border near Rahim Yar Khan.
Villagers and family of Iqbal requested the government to make efforts for his release, ensuring safe and early return from India.
