Met Department in its alert stated that the persistence of clouds in Arabian Sea shows an area of convection with a potential to develop a cyclone.

“Surface temperatures monitoring and air analysis also point toward the development of a low-pressure area or cyclogenesis,” read the alert.

It was added that the numerical models indicate cyclonic activity in the Arabian Sea at a distance of 1600km south of Pakistan coast in next couple of days.

The Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of the Met Dept is regularly monitoring the local and regional meteorological conditions and it will issue a weather advisory in next 24 hours, in case of any cyclonic activity that could affect the coastal areas.

“All stakeholders and concerned authorities are advised to keep them abreast about weather advisories of PMD in coming days,” the Meteorological Department advised.
