Met deptt forecasts rainfall in Karachi, other areas

In a statement the weather department said that seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending southeastwards. Monsoon currents are penetrating over country and likely to continue during next couple of days. A westerly wave is likely to approach western parts of the country tonight and persist during next 2-3 days.

The weather advisory said that widespread rain/dust-thundershower with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds is expected in Sibbi, Makran, Kalat, Nasirabad divisions of Balochistan. In Sindh, rainfall predicted in Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions, while at scattered places in Punjab in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan and D.G Khan divisions, Islamabad,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, D.I Khan divisions.

Weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country yesterday. However, rain/dust-thundershower occurred at isolated places in Sargodha, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Malakand, Quetta divisions, Islamabad, FATA and Kashmir.

Yesterday’s highest maximum temperatures were recorded at Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar (46°C), Noorpur Thal and Dadu (45°C).
