Met office predicts dust and thunderstorms in KP, other parts of country

ISLAMABAD: Scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of country are expected to receive dust-storm, thunderstorm or rain with gusty winds, the met office said in its forecast on Thursday.

While hot and dry weather will prevail in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country, according to the weather report. Another westerly wave is likely to approach western parts of Balochistan on Sunday.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), dust-storm or rain with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu and D.I.Khan divisions, Quetta, Zhob and Kalat divisions of Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, while at isolated places in Sukkur, D.G.Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi divisions and Islamabad.

Weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country in past 24 hours. However, dust-thunderstorm/rain occurred at isolated places in Malakand, Rawalpindi divisions, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir, the weather report said.

Yesterday maximum temperature was recorded at Mithi 44°Celsius, Mirpur Khas, Shaheed Benazirabad 43°C, Tandojam, Chhor, Hyderabad and Sukrand 42°C.
