KARACHI: As the municipal authorities are struggling to dewater the city after heavy downpour over the past two days, the meteorological department has predicted isolated rains in the city after the weather system weakened.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) presently seasonal low lies over northeast Balochistan and weak monsoon currents are penetrating in parts of the country.

An official of the met office said rain/thundershowers with gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas over the next 24 hours.

The maximum and minimum temperature in Karachi will remain at 24 and 34 degree Celsius with weather to remain partly cloudy on Saturday, he added.

The weatherman said weak monsoon currents are still penetrating northeastern parts of the country and likely to continue over the next 48 hours.

NEXT 24 HOURS

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain with thunderstorm and gusty winds is predicted in isolated places in Mirpurkhas, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

The mercury in Lahore will remain at 32 degree Celsius with weather to remain partly cloudy in the next 12 hours. The maximum temperature in Quetta and Peshawar will climb to 37 and 38 degree Celsius, respectively.
