KARACHI: Karachi and other parts of the country will receive rains for the second day on Thursday, the weather department said in a forecast.
The port city received 23mm to 36mm rainfall on Wednesday hitting hard creaking infrastructure of the metropolis with power outages and drainage problems.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rains and thunderstorms in Upper Punjab, Lower Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Eastern Balochistan and Kashmir regions in a weather advisory.
Strong monsoon currents are penetrating in the country and likely to continue during next 24 hours, fresh weather forecast said. A westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the county and may persist during next 24 hours.
The met department has predicted rain and thundershowers with strong gusty winds at a number of places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hyderabad, Karachi, MirpurKhas and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions in lower and central Sindh, Islamabad, FATA and Kashmir, while at scattered places in south Punjab, upper Sindh, eastern Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
