Met office predicts rainfall in parts of country

KARACHI: Hot and dry spell is likely to continue in most parts of the country with some places to receive light and heavy rainfall during the next twenty four hours owing to moist current from the Arabian sea penetrating the upper and central parts of the country, said an official of the meteorological department.

According to the Met office forecast, moist currents from the Arabian sea are penetrating the upper and central parts of the country and westerly wave is expected to affect the country from Monday (evening) and likely to persist till Thursday.

Mainly hot and dry weather is predicted in most parts of the country. However, it predicts rain with thunderstorm and gusty winds in isolated places in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sarghoda, D.G Khan, D.I Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Zhob, Hazara, Peshawar, Islamabad, FATA and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

Light rain is also expected at some places along Sindh and Makran coast during the next 24 hours, the weather department said.

The maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to remain at 35 degrees centigrade during the day with weather to remain partly cloudy. Whereas, Peshawar will experience 39 degrees centigrade of temperature while the temperature in Lahore and Quetta will rise to 38 and 39 degrees centigrade, respectively.
