Mild 5.4 magnitude earthquake felt in several parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A mild earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale struck several parts of the country including the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

The tremors were felt in several cities including Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Pindi Bhatian, Bhawal, Phalia and Kalabagh. The residents were jolted and came out of their homes in fear and shock.

In KP and Azad Kashmir the earthquake tremors were felt in Peshawar, Mardan, Sargodha, Swat, Malakand, Lower Dir, Mohmand Agency, Shangla, Chilas, Kohistan, Mansehra, Balakot and Battagram.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was 40 km from the city of Jarm in Afghanistan, and occurred at a depth of 192.8 kilometres.
