ISLAMABAD: Military solution has totally failed in Afghanistan despite the provision of all sorts of ammunition and weaponry to forces fighting for peace in the country, Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Faisal said on Tuesday.

In an interview with state-run Radio Pakistan, the FO spokesman said that the Quadrilateral Consultative Group involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the United States would be the most appropriate forum to take the peace process in Afghanistan forward as dialogue is the only way to resolve conflict.

About the possible outcome of the Kabul process next month, Dr. Muhammad Faisal said it depends on the attitude of the Afghan Government.

He said there are issues like repatriation of Afghan refugees to their homeland with dignity and honour, exponential rise in drugs and poppy cultivation and use of the drug money to fuel the war economy and attacks on Pakistan side from Afghan soil.

Later, in a series of tweets, Dr Muhammad Faisal maintained that Pakistan continues to push suspects belonging to Taliban and Haqqani Network to prevent use of Pakistani soil for attacks in Afghanistan and in this regard, at least 27 suspected militants were handed over to Afghanistan in November last year.
