A three member bench, comprising of Chief Justice IHC Anwar Kasi, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Athar Minallah, heard the petition today. The court summoned Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, S.M. Zafar, Taufiq Asif, Raza Rabbani and Hamid Khan as amicus curae. The court also sent a notice to Defence Ministry for submitting an answer to the court.
Jutice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, in his remarks, told the petitioner that he should be happy that government is calling the military and the army is not taking over the state.
CJ IHC Anwar Kasi said that the government also calls the military for assistance to civil administration whenever a natural disaster strikes the country.
The court adjourned the proceedings till 1st September.
