Minister announces compensation for train blast victims

LAHORE: Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique has announced compensation for the deceased and the injured of Kashmore train blast, ARY News reported.

The minister, addressing a press conference here, said Rs 0.5 million each will be given to heirs of the deceased, while Rs 0.1 million each will be provided to those injured.

He said vicious elements, claiming to be freedom fighters, had no right to kill innocent people. They are the same people who used to target trains in Balochistan and local people, he added.

Minister said it was a coward activity to target a passenger bus.

FC choppers were also aboard the train and they gunned down 10 terrorists on the spot. He said terrorists had a plan to target large number of people who were aboard the train, but security officials foiled their plan.

“Those carrying out terrorism activities in Balochistan are now targeting passenger trains in Sindh.”

Shalimar Express which was attacked near Dhabeji and the this blast has connections, said the Railways minister.

The minister stressed that we have to ensure security of train passengers at all costs.

Terrorists knew that trains are a safe target, but we have thought some measures to protect trains from such attacks, he said, adding the link of attackers connects with those so-called ‘freedom fighters’ in Balochistan.

He said Pakistan Railways had limited resources and facing shortfall of Rs 30 billion.
