Minister says new strategy planned to address power crisis

The work is in progress on many energy projects, including Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Plant, and alternative energy sources of coal, solar, wind and bio-gas are being utilized, he told a conference in Lahore today.

The minister said at present 9,000 megawatts of electricity was being supplied in the country. He said the shortfall was being overcome by executing many power projects with China’s cooperation.

He said efforts are afoot to attract foreign investment in the energy sector.

Ali, while speaking to media later, said all defected meters were being replaced and inflated electricity bills rectified.
