Ministers meet to discuss govt business in absence of PM
According to ARY News, PM House spokesman has said in a statement that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will undergo the open-heart surgery in London on the advice of the doctors.
He said the PM being kept informed about the national matters. The matter of his return to Pakistan after surgery, will be decided with the consultation of doctors, spokesman said.
The prime minister’s instructions being dispatched to the concerned officials for implementation, the PM House spokesman said. He also said that the prime minister being assisted by his principal and military secretary in London.
A meeting of the government ministers and close aides of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held here to consult over the government business in the absence of the ailing prime minister who will undergo an open-heart surgery in London on Tuesday.
The meeting in Prime Minister House Islamabad was presided over by Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar, to discuss how to conduct the government business in absence of the prime minister.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Pervez Rasheed among others.
Ishaq Dar running govt with consultation: Rasheed
Pervez Rasheed later talking to ARY News said that the prime minister has been in constant touch with his ministers and denied any crisis like situation in the country.
He said the country not required an acting head of the government in absence of the prime minister. “The prime minister has been in constant contact with ministers Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Nisar, Sartaj Aziz and me,” Rasheed said.
He said the prime ministers had issued directives on the key governance matters last night adding that Ishaq Dar running government matters with consultation of other ministers.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been in London since May 22. This has been his second visit to the British capital in less than two months for medical purpose at a time when the controversy over Panama Papers is still raging at home.
During his previous visit of London, Sharif had asked Ishaq Dar, to cancel an important US visit to oversee the government business in his absence.
The federal budget, likely to be announced in June, has been in pending apart of other important government matters.
The government meeting likely to consider over the strategy for announcement of the federal budget for fiscal year 2016-17, sources said.
The meeting also discussed the political situation of the country, sources added.
Earlier, Maryam Safdar, prime minister’s daughter, in a tweet said that the family has decided to go for an open-heart surgery of the PM on Tuesday.
The recovery period and hospital stay will be one week and he (PM) will travel Insha’Allah back to Pakistan as soon as the doctors allow him, Safdar said in a tweet.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif while confirming reports said in his statement on social media that the prime minister will be able to travel after two weeks of his surgery.
