ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior, has confirmed that the Government has made a contact with the Taliban-nominated committee and a meeting of both the peace committees is expected soon – ARY News reports.
In a statement issued earlier today, the Interior Ministry confirmed that the Government has contacted the Taliban-nominated committee in pursuance of talks with banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). It was further told that a meeting of both Government and Taliban representative committees is soon expected for pursuing negotiations.
On the other hand, Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has summoned a meeting of the Government's team to decide on future agenda of talks with Taliban. He told that the meeting of Government's committee will be held today as well as on Friday, which will be focused upon affairs relating to peace talks with Taliban.
Meanwhile, an aide to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and coordinator of Government committee, Irfan Siddiqui said there in Lahore that there is no deadlock in negotiations with Taliban.
He further told that withdrawal of Pak-Army troops from tribal region and enforcing Shariah, are not being demanded by Taliban now.
