Ministry of HR drafted nine bills for women welfare in 100 days

ISLAMABAD: During the initial 100 days of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government, the ministry of Human Rights (HR) drafted at least nine bills  for women welfare in the county, said an official.

The officials said that awareness campaigns and redressal of human rights complaints, street children and harmonization of laws, and policies, including women empowerment and child abuse, were also devised in the span of only 100 days.

He said that during the period, the ministry managed to improve the structure of the ministry on receiving inputs from different sources besides recommending legislation.

Govt to launch campaign to provide women legal aid about inheritance: Mazari

It is pertinent to mention here that the federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari on October 12 had said the government would soon launch a campaign to provide women free legal aid regarding inheritance.

“We have already started awareness drive regarding the women’s right to inheritance and launching another drive to provide free legal aid soon,” she had said while talking to Swedish Ambassador for Human Rights, Democracy and Rule of Law Annika Ben David and Ambassador of Sweden Ingrid Johansson who called on her here in Islamabad.
