Minor gain in Rupee

The rupee gained modestly against the dollar in the interbank market on Monday.

The national currency picked up six-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.42 and Rs 105.44 respectively.

The rupee maintained its weekend levels in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.75 and Rs 105.85, while it lost 15-paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 144.25 and Rs 144.50.

In the first Asian trade, the dollar edged up to its highest level since late January on expectations in accordance to the situations at US Federal Reserve.

The dollar bought 102.40 yen, up slightly on the day, after it rose as high as 102.65 yen. That helped the dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six rivals, gain about 0.1 percent to 80.735, moving away from a one-week low of 80.599 plumbed on Friday.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 62.27, the greenback was at 3.3360 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was at 6.059 against the Chinese yuan.
