LAHORE: Former Punjab minister of law Rana Sanaullah appeared before the judicial commission inquiring into the Model Town police firing incident in Lahore in which at least 12 workers of Tehreek e Minhaj-ul-Quran lost their lives and scores of others were injured.
According to ARY News, Rana Sanaullah on Thursday appeared before the judicial commission comprises of Justice Ali Baqar Najafi of Lahore High Court.
Rana Sanaullah pleaded to the court for some time for submitting his statement on oath in the commission.
He said maintenance of law and order was a responsibility and called the incident as regretful.
Former principal secretary to the chief minister, Dr Tauqeer Shah was also appeared before the inquiry commission.
The tribunal had also summoned other government officials to submit their reports over the incident.
Dr Tahirul Qadri, head of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, had rejected the authority of the tribunal. He rejected the tribunal constituted by the Punjab government.
