No matter how India’s newly elected PM acted against Pakistan, no matter how aggressive his policies get on bilateral issues. His one stance, though a rare and constructive one, is commendable to involve Indian youth in social and political activities. Bhartia Janta Party BJP is India’s newly elected ruling party, it has taken a really impressive step of invoking youth by involving them to take part in his campaign Clean India “Swachh Bharat” campaign.
Most of us have heard about ALS ice bucket challenge chain on Social Media. It is an activity of dumping a bucket full of chilled water on your head in order to promote awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as ALS. This activity became viral and was followed globally. Clean India Campaign is the same kind of patter Indian Prime minister has launched to promote sanitary in India.
Modi launched the campaign on 2nd October and nominated nine eminent people to perform the activity also he asked them to follow the chain by nominating others. The list of his nominee includes Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Shashi Tharoor, cricket star Sachin Tendulkar, actors Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Kamal Haasan, industrialist Anil Ambani, yoga practitioner Baba Ramdev, and the crew of the TV serial Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma these people and entire Indian nation to take part in his campaign. This is campaign is a long term project that will last for five years.
In the meantime when the world is busy in spreading awareness by Ice Bucket Challenge or Clean India campaign, we in Pakistan play clutter up Pakistan campaign runs as Gullu mission. It’s a thoughtful moment for the government to think where has it involved it’s youth which is the 66 percent of its population. You just switch to any social network and you would know what youth of Pakistan is doing, they are busy in bashing each other.
Government has involved them in a battle of words and all the positive energy that could be used for the development of better Pakistan is busy in saving their idols in a war of words. It’s a responsibility of government and only government to employ its people in productive activities no matter what opposition they face.
Modi has also faced criticism but at least he took an initiative for his country and people will judge him for his patriotism whilst in Pakistan people will judge our government for getting indulged in mud-slinging.
One thing PM Nawaz sharif has to learn that by making your daughter head of Youth loan program without any credentials, let’s be clear that such a step may not necessarily inspire the youth. You need to know one thing that you can’t win hearts by giving youth loans and laptops in 21st century. You need to think big, you need to involve youth and you need to consider them an essential part of this country’s development.
Narendra Modi also met Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg earlier in order to initiate Digital India mission.
