Monsoon rain lashes several localities of Lahore after Karachi

LAHORE: The new spell of monsoon rains in the country lashed several localities of Lahore city on Friday morning, ARY News reported 

Davis Road, Samanabad, Canal Road, and Garden Town were among several other areas of the city receiving heavy rainfall.

At 20mm, Samanabad received the maximum rainfall this morning, followed by Jail Road which received 19mm of rain while the other localities including Airport and Johar Town received 10mm of rainfall.

Meantime, several other parts of the province including Gujranwala and surrounding towns also received moderate rainfall.

According to weather forecasting department, rains with thunderstorm are expected at isolated places in Mirpurkhas, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

However, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country, the Met office said.

Draining standing water in Karachi

After civilian authorities in Karachi called Pakistan Army to assist in de-watering the submerged areas of the city, the Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) has issued a statement on Friday with regard to their rescue operations in the provincial capital city.

According to Pak Army’s media wing, Liaqatabad no 10,Gharibabad underpass, Kaballi town block 5, Petrol Pump Chowrangi, Nauras Chowrangi, Old Golimar, Nagin Chowrangi, and Power House Chowrangi were cleared.

Meanwhile other areas where the de-watering is in progress include Ayesha Manzil, Nazimabad Underpass, Golimar Chowrangi, North Karachi UC 13, Landikotal, and Saadi Town.
