PESHAWAR: Rival student groups at Peshawar University clashed over Valentine’s Day, ARY News reported on Friday.
The clash erupted when one students group was rallying to mark ‘Modesty Day” and the other was busy celebrating the Valentine’s Day. As soon both groups encountered each other, they entered a brawl that later turned into an armed clash. At least two students were injured in the wake of dispute.
Shortly after the spat began, heavy contingent of police reached the spot, but they could not get control over spat for some time. Student groups resorted to aerial firing and pelted stones at each other.
Those opposed the celebrations of Valentine’s Day belonged to Islami Jamiat-e-Taliba (IJT). The campus turned into a battlefield until law enforcers used force to contain the fighting students.
