More widespread rain expected in parts of country
KARACHI: The Pakistan Metrological Department on Tuesday warned of more widespread rainfall in upper and central parts of the country.
According to today’s forecast, more widespread rain is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan till Wednesday.
Whereas, isolated places in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, D.G.Khan, Kohat, Bannu, Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas divisions are also likely to experience rain. Moderate to heavy showers are expected in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir and more snowfall over hills in Malakand division (Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba & upper Dir), Hazara division, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.
The weather department said a westerly wave is still affecting most upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till Wednesday.
In the past 24 hours, Islamabad’s Golra received 44 millimeter rainfall, Saidpur 39mm, IIAP 37mm, Bokra 31mm, Z.P 27mm, while Murree received 38 mm rain, and Rawalpindi’s Chaklala 29mm, Shamsabad 28mm.
Sialkot (A/P 24, City 20), Gujranwala 23, Gujrat 22, Lahore (A/P 20, City 16), Hafizabad 17, Jhelum 15, Okara, Sahiwal 14, M.B.Din 12, Mangla, Narowal 10, Bahawalpur (AP 09, city 08), Kasur 09, Kamra 08, Khanpur 05, Bahawalnager, Faisalabad, T.T.Singh 03, Sargodha 02, Chakwal 01.
In Karachi, the University Road experienced 40mm rainfall, Phelwan Ghot 33mm, Landhi 31mm, A/P 19, PAF Masroor 18mm, Nazimabad 14mm, Shahrah e Faisal 12mm, Ghulshan e Hadid 10mm, North Karachi 07mm.
Sindh’s other cities also received showers. Padidan received 17mm rainfall, Sakrand 15mm, Rohri 13mm, Tandojam 12mm, Dadu 11mm, Shaheed Benazirabad 10mm, Mirpurkhas 09mm, Sukkur and Jacobabad 07 mm, Larkana, and Hyderabad 06 mm and Moenjodaro 04.
