The mourning processions on Chehlum being carried out in Karachi and other cities and towns of the country.

Security has been tightened around the country.

In Karachi over 5000 policemen have been deployed along the route of the central procession of Chehlum. Police sharpshooters have been posted 200 buildings along the route.

As per the security plan, Karachi has been divided into different sectors, and each sector will be supervised by an officer of the SP rank.

I.G. Sindh has directed to the bomb disposal squad to ensure clearance, scanning and technical sweeping of the routes of the mourning processions.

The government has imposed pillion riding ban in Karachi and several other cities.

In Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh mourning processions being monitored by the security personnel.

In Punjab leaves of the operational staff have been cancelled. Over 50 thousands security men have been deployed in the province for the security of processions and religious gatherings.

Moreover, 33 companies of the Army and 12 companies of Rangers have been kept standby.

Police and Rangers have been on high alert for security of the mourning processions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The routes of processions are closely monitored in Peshawar and Quetta.

Moreover, cellular services have been suspended in seven districts of Balochistan province.
