MQM calls off protest after govt assurance
KARACHI: The Mutahidda Qaumi Movement has announced to call off its protest scheduled today over issuance of National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) after assurance from the government, ARY News reported.
The Rabita (coordination) Committee of MQM said they were calling off the protest after government assured to resolve the matter properly. The decision in this regard was taken in a joint meeting of MQM RC in London and Karachi last night.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain said the country was already embroiled in different crisis, hence MQM doesn’t want to add to existing problems, he added.
We want this matter to be resolved through amicable negotiations, Altaf said.
