MQM challenges local councils delimitations in SHC

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday challenged delimitations for local bodies elections in Sindh High Court (SHC), ARY News reports.

MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar filed petition in SHC challenging delimitions in Sindh for local councils’ election. He pleaded to the court for urgent hearing of the case and issuing stay order against the delimitations.

The MQM leader called delimitations for union councils and union committees ‘unconstitutional’ and ‘illegal’.

Senator Farogh Naseem said that according to law the limits of UCs could only be set under the census of 1998 Census.
