Renowned lawyer and rights activist Asma Jahangir along with three other attorneys filed the petition today.
It stated that imposing a ban on Altaf Hussain’s speeches was in contrast with basic human rights and the Constitution of Pakistan.
The petition requested the SC to suspend LHC verdict.
Earlier on Sep 7, the Lahore High Court had banned broadcast of the MQM chief’s speeches and images.
In its verdict, the LHC had also directed Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to ensure implementation of the ban in print and electronic media.
