In a statement issued here, the MQM spokesperson said certain sections of media ran news of arrest of income tax department official affiliated with MQM, allegedly collecting extortion.
This news is aimed at subjecting MQM to media trial and defame the party, said the spokesman.
He said leveling such baseless allegations without any evidence or proofs could never be ethical.
Earlier in a day, Rangers claimed to have busted a criminal gang involved in collecting extortion from Karachi traders. The key man, alleged extortionist, was an official of income tax department.
