Naseem in a press conference after the scuffle between JI and MQM workers claimed that MQM does not want political activities in the constituency.

The JI leader maintained that only three to four police personnel were deployed for their security who ran away as soon as the rally was attacked.

JI Karachi President Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the administration was only concerned about the security of MQM workers adding that he has sympathies with the police as they are being instructed from Governor House to serve MQM.

Naeem claimed that JI has endured MQM tyranny for 30 years.

“We are not to be threatened by such attacks, JI will hold a rally in the constituency today and a public meeting tomorrow where the party chief Siraj-ul-Haq will speak”, said Naeem.

The JI Karachi President opined that the attack on the rally is an attack on their candidate Rashid Naseem.

The NA-246 seat fell vacant after Nabil Gabol, who was elected on the ticket of MQM in the 2013 general elections, resigned from his seat after developing differences with the party.

According to party sources, JI will organize a big gathering of party workers and supporters on April 12 in the constituency. The by-polls on the National Assembly seat will be held on April 23.
