MQM files petition against party member killing

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the extra judicial killing of party worker Muhammad Salman here In Karachi on Wednesday, ARY News reports.

MQM has made Sindh Government, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Shahid Hayat Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pir Muhammad Shah a party in the case.

It is stated in the petition that Muhammad Salman was killed during torture in police custody and pleaded the court that a case should be held against the responsible cops.

MQM representative Asif Hasnain spoke to the media and said that police officers are extra judicially killing MQM workers. He added that 12 workers were extra judicially killed by the cops.

MQM has locked horns with the Sindh Government and Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) since the initiation of the targeted operations in the metropolis. The party has claimed that their workers are being targeted on purpose.

MQM worker Fahad Aziz was arrested by Police on Eighth February from Shah Faisal Colony as he was returning from a wedding ceremony.

The party members had earlier boycotted the Sindh Assembly sessions after protesting against the killing of their workers by police and rangers. MQM had claimed that police takes 22 crores extortion per month.
