Retired major Qamar Abbas Rizvi had parked his vehicle in the no-parking zone, while his car also didn’t have a sticker which is generally issued by the assembly secretariat to its members.
Traffic police officials lifted his vehicle soon after it was parked outside the assembly. As the MPA came out of the building, he didn’t find his vehicle and eventually approached the media informing them about the issue.
He was later told by a security official that his vehicle has been lifted due to wrong parking. Traffic police officials concerned assured of giving his car back when he showed his identity.
MQM’s retd Maj Qamar Abbas had bagged victory with 10,738 out of total 14,235 votes cast in PS-117 elections on June 3. His closest rival Ali Raza of Tehreek-i-Islami secured 1,018 votes, PTI’s Rifaqat Qamar managed to get 950 votes, followed by PPP’s Javed Maqbool Butt (924) and JUI’s Syed Naeem Shah (432).
