MQM-P Bahadurabad faction to hold workers convention today

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Bahadurabad faction is to hold its general workers’ convention at 13-C Ground in Gulshan-e-Iqbal here today ahead of intra-party elections announced by the PIB faction.

The party meeting was earlier announced to be held at Nazimabad ground. However, the venue of the convention was shifted to Gulshan-e-Iqbal after the city administration denied permission to Amir Khan-led Bahadurabad faction.

According to party sources, the splinter group is expected to make key announcements with regard to Senate elections, party leadership and other issues.

On the flip side, Dr Farooq Sattar, who heads the party’s PIB faction, has called intra-party elections on Sunday (February 18) after getting sacked as party convener by Rabita Committee (coordination committee).Farooq Sattar

In a press conference on Thursday, Sattar deplored allegations levelled against him by the splinter group.

“I do not want this spell of recriminations to continue,” he said but underscored that it is his right to respond to allegations.

On the intra-party elections, the preparations for elections are in full swing. He urged all party activists to ensure their participation in the poll on Sunday.

Sattar reiterated that the party symbol is registered as ‘kite’ and under his name with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The intra-party poll will start at 1:00 pm and remain continue till 6:00 pm on February 18.
