ISLAMABAD:  A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) led by its convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui held talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen in Islamabad today.

The MQM-P delegation, which also include Amir Khan, Faisal Subzwari, Waseem Akhtar and Kunwar Naveed Jamil, is also expected to meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan later today at his Bani Gala residence.

The talks between leaders of the two political parties centered around the prevailing political situation and their likely alliance at the Center.

The PTI, which emerged as the single largest party in the 2018 polls, is short of a simple majority and needs the support of independents and small coalition partners such as the MQM-P to acquire the magical number of 172 in the 342-house to form the government.

It is pertinent to mention here that MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar had earlier said the party has assured support to the PTI as it was a great opportunity to serve Karachi and solve the problems facing the city.

He said it was heartening to see the imminent government showing interest in resolving the problems of Karachi, and his party will support the PTI in this regard.

He said it was a great opportunity for the MQM to be part of  the efforts being made to resolve the issues in urban areas of Sindh.
