MQM-P man shot dead in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: A sector-in-charge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) was killed here when unidentified armed men opened fire at him on Wednesday.
Police said the firing incident took place on Hali Road of the city this morning when Dr Naushad aka Danish, a veterinary doctor, was returning home after dropping off his children at school.
Unidentified gunmen sprayed the MQM leader with bullets near his house on Hali Road as he got off his car, a police officer said.
After being informed about the incident the police reached the crime scene and shifted the body to Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad for medico-legal formalities, police official said.
Quoting eye witnesses, the police said, the assailants riding a motorbike opened fire at the MQM activist and sped away from the scene, adding that they are investigating the motive behind the killing.
Party leaders and activists as well as relatives of the deceased gathered at the hospital as soon as the news about his killing reached to them.
Dr Naushad was in-charge of a MQM sector in Hyderabad and said to be a close aide of the party’s deputy convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
Khawaja Izharul Hassan, a leader of MQM-P and the leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly, was also target of a recent murder attempt in Buffer Zone area of Karachi. Hassan had escaped unhurt in the attack.
