KARACHI: In a tit-for-tat move, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has vowed to give a ‘befitting’ response to the Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his rally in MQM stronghold Liaquatabad by holding a public gathering.

Addressing the media today, MQM-P’s Bahadurabad wing leader Khalid Maqbool said his party would give a powerful reply to Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s speech for “his anti-MQM” speech.

“PPP raised a slogan aimed at dividing the nation. You have only given the people bullets, coffins and a graveyard; instead of giving them what you truly promised that is food, clothes and land,” said Siddiqui.

He further added saying; “We will not let you shun the Urdu language, We have and will always fight for its sustainability”.

He also fired at the PPP’s chairman with accusations; “Lyari gang war used to be PPP’s military wing. why not ask PPP who were the people who used to meet with the commandoes of Lyari gang war,” he asked.

Meanwhile, senior MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar has also stepped forward setting aside personal differences and now he is planning to unite with the MQM bahadurabad wing to give a  powerful reply to PPP.

Earlier PPP’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while addressing the crowd in Liaquatabad had said that; “We freed Karachi from London’s stranglehold. We have been against the politics of founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) from day one”.

“This is the area which used to reverberate with slogan ‘Pehlay goli bad mey bat, Liaquatabad, Liaquatabad’ (Gunshot first, talks later in Liaquatabad),” he said.

He said mutilated bodies used to be recovered in the biggest city of the country and people were made to fight on the basis of ethnicity.

Bilawal Bhutto reprimanded the MQM factions saying that those who cannot sit together how could you expect them to address issues of Karachi. He claimed to further liberate the city from the clutches of the MQM.

MQM-P’s Bahadurabad wing headed by Khalid Maqbool and PIB wing led by Farooq Sattar have decided to hold separate rallies in response to PPP on May 4 and May 5, respectively. Sattar has written a letter to deputy commissioner for a rally at Liaquatabad’s Tanki ground on May 4 – the same venue where PPP staged a rally.
