KARACHI: Cordination Committee (Raabta Committee) of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has expressed its concerns on the non-appointment of Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), ARY News reports.
In a statement, MQM RC has said that the objective of HEC is to improve the standards of educational institutes and to provide better facilities to the students for education. They further said that the absence of a permanent HEC Chairman for the past eight months is a concern.
"There has been no appointment of a Chairman HEC on a national level nor any council has been made on a provincial level after the implementation of the 18th Amendment", MQM RC said.
MQM RC further added that the federal government is ignoring a key institute such as HEC due to which an atmosphere of anxiety is being felt amongst students and professors.
They demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and other officials to appoint an eligible person for the position and to play its role in protecting the province that is already hit by low quality of education.
