MQM leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan said the protest was called off on the directive of Rabita Committee. The government was given one week’s time. Sit-in would be staged again if positive results were not seen in one week.

MQM leaders had said the world was making development and Karachi was deprived of basic necessity of life. They vowed to get water for Sindh as well as Karachi.

Nominated mayor for Karachi Waseem Akhter had said they were not being given powers and Karachiites were being wronged by not providing water.

Spokesman CM House had announced that no party would be allowed to rally in red zone because of imposition of section 144. However, police personnel did not stop the protestors on their way marching towards CM House due to their large number, but they warned MQM leadership that whoever would cross the limit would be arrested.

Road had been sealed by placing container, but the protesters climbed the container and staged protest in front of the CM House.

MQM made mistake to besiege CM House: Qaim

Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah warned that MQM had made mistake by besieging CM House. All the city was facing water shortage. Should the entire city mount on container now? he had asked

He had said the water project of K-4 was being built to solve water shortage problem. The Sindh government had allocated Rs6 billion for the project.

“I feel sorry over MQM’s behavior. Doing politics over water issue is not right. MQM is establishing wrong tradition. How would you feel if we besieged MQM mayor’s office,” he said.
