Muharram-ul-Haram moon sighted, Youm-e-Ashoor to be on Oct 1

KARACHI: The crescent of Muharram moon has been sighted on Thursday (today) in Pakistan, marking the beginning of the Islamic new year 1439 AH, ARY News reported.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Mufti Munibur Rehman, met met today in Karachi for sighting the Muharram moon.

The sighting of the moon was announced by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman after the meeting of the committee.

Muharram marks the start of the Islamic new year. The Ashoora days will be marked on September 30 and October 1.

Muslims across the world commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) during Ashoora.
