ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court on Saturday approved a petition for hearing, filed by former president Pervez Musharraf challenging hearing of treason charges against him in a special court, ARY News reported.

Justice Riaz Ahmed of Islamabad High Court will hear the case.

The petition was filed by Khalid Ranjha Advocate in the court on behalf of Musharraf, termed the hearing a violation of fundamental human rights.

It is pertinent to mention that the special court has summoned Musharraf on December 24 for treason hearing.

It has been mentioned in the petition  that former president Musharraf didn't take the decision for proclamation of emergency on November 3, 2007 by his own, but the decision was made after necessary consultations, so as the case only against him is contrary to the spirit of justice.

Secretaries of Interior and defence ministries and the special court have been made party in the petition.
