Musharraf files an intra-court appeal in IHC
ISLAMABAD: Former president Gen. Rtd Pervez Musharraf filed an intra-court appeal in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the special court on Tuesday, ARY News reported.
In the appeal Pervez Musharaf has requested to stop special court from working, constituted to try him for treason. The appeal adopted the stance that fair trial should be observed in the trail against Musharraf.
The special court comprises of Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, Justice Tahira Safdar of the Balochistan High Court and Justice Yawar Ali of the Lahore High Court.
Musharraf, when challenging the authority of the special court, had asked that at the time of declaring emergency in 2007 he was the army chief and a military court alone could examine his actions.
It has been mentioned that the special court was formed by Prime Minster Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and former chief justice Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudary on political ground.
