ISLAMABAD: Former President General (R) Pervez Musharraf's legal team has said that international laws have been neglected during the formation of a special court for the Treason Trial against former Army Chief and the international organizations including the United Nations (UN) have been informed about reservations on the case – ARY News reports.
Members of the legal team while addressing a press conference here on Monday, told that the treason case against former President was established purely on political grounds. Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif and Raza Anjum told that PM Nawaz Sharif and CJ (R) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry are against Pervez Musharraf.
They said that they have severe reservations on the formation of a special court and bench and a transparent trial cannot be expected from present judges.
It was further said that the judges appointed for the trial are biased and the international criminal laws cannot be ignored.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that sympathies for the former President are found within the military too.
It was added that Pervez Musharraf respects the Judiciary and he has appeared before lower courts in past, yet it will be decided later whether he will appear before the special court on January 1st or not.
