Musharraf’s plea for travelling abroad not rejected, says Barrister Farogh

TOP NEWS

ISLAMABAD: Newly hired lawyer of former Pervez Musharraf in a treason trial case Barrister Farogh Naseem said a plea of his client was not rejected, but it required to get a nod by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, ARY News reported.

During its hearing of the treason trial case, the special court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, stated on Monday that it had not put Musharraf’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) and federal government should be contacted for omitting former president’s name from the list.

The special court, however, had turned down the plea of Musharraf to go abroad to see his ailing mother in Dubai, saying the decision was not under its jurisdiction.

The court said Musharraf could go anywhere and handpick any doctor for his treatment.

President Mamnoon Hussain has said prime minister will take a decision on plea of Musharraf if he appealed to go abroad.

Experts also say there was no bar on Musharraf to travel abroad.

It is to be seen whether Sharif family allow Musharraf to visit abroad. It is pertinent to mention here that Musharraf had allowed the Sharif family to go abroad in early 2000 on their request.
