LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to withhold Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s victory notification from Lahore’s NA-131 constituency, ARY News reported.

During the hearing of a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, the court not only ordered the ECP to withhold the PTI chief’s victory notification but also ordered a complete vote-recount.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, who lost election to the PTI chief, had approached the court arguing that ECP only counted rejected votes over his recount plea.

According to unofficial results, the PTI chief had bagged 84, 313 votes, defeating the former railway minister with a narrow margin of 650 votes as the latter could secure 83,663 votes.

NA-131 was one of the hotly contested seats of the National Assembly because of the two political heavyweights.

Previously, Mr. Khan had lost three elections in Lahore deemed as one of the former ruling party’s strongholds.
