NA: MQM suggests increase in minorities' seats

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has submitted a bill in the National Assembly, suggesting increase in the number of seats for minorities – ARY News reports.

According to details, the session of the National Assembly commenced on Tuesday chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

During the session, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) submitted the Amended Bill 2014 suggesting increase in the number of seats for minorities.

The bill, for further proceedings, was forwarded to the concerned standing committee.

Another bill was tabled during the session, aimed at preventing human rights violations against the accused under custody of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

Meanwhile, members of the House also held a debate on water sources and demanded the Government to take measures for preventing India from constructing dams on Pakistan's water sources.

It was also demanded that the Government of Pakistan should take up this issue at the United Nations (UN), however the members opposed the construction of Kala Bagh Dam.

Moreover, the session of the assembly was adjourned till tomorrow morning at 10:30 am.
