NAB decides to gear up against ex-PM Gillani, Babar Awan
ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to take an action against former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and former Federal Minister Babar Awan for illegal appointment of former Chairman National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) and delaying the Nandi Pur Power Project respectively – ARY News reports.
According to details, the decision came out at a meeting chaired by the acting NAB Chief, Saeed Ahmed Sargana here on Monday. During the meeting, Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, former DG Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) and Director FIA were declared innocent for the allegations against them could not be proven.
NAB decided to speed up investigations against the former Chairman Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) Moeen Aftab Sheikh, former MD Rasool Baksh Phalphoto for undue usage of powers. In this case a damage of 1.23 billion rupees was caused to the national treasury by benefiting some 63 different companies.
Moreover, the NAB Chief directed the officials for investigating Nandi Pur and Chichu Ki Malian Power Projects as the state was caused a loss of 113 billion rupees in these projects. He advised the officials to swiftly complete their investigation against involved personnel of the Ministry of Finance, Water and Power and Law.
