LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has devised a comprehensive strategy to arrest former premier Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif as the PML-N leaders return to Pakistan on Friday, sources told ARY News on Wednesday.

According to sources within the anti-graft authority, National Accountability Bureau Lahore has formed a 16-member team headed by NAB director Amjad Ali for the purpose. The team comprises nine NAB officers and several police officers.

Sources add that a chopper has also been arranged to shift the convicts to Rawalpindi.

On the other hand, Punjab province’s caretaker government has also devised a plan to prevent any unrest in the city.

PML-N president Mian Shehbaz Sharif, however, has asked party workers to welcome the duo in large numbers.

It is pertinent to note here that an accountability court on July 6, handed Nawaz Sharif 10 years as jail time for owning assets beyond income and 1 year for not cooperating with NAB in the Avenfield properties corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years for abetment, and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar was given 1 year for non-cooperation with the anti-graft authority.

Captain (retd) Safdar was arrested on Sunday, July 8 while Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif are due to return on July 13, Friday.
